How to handle lost receipt?

How does one handle lost receipt, where the receiver received the message but the sender failed to get the receipt? This is mentioned here: XEP-0184: Message Receipts but there’s no solution.

Sender >>>Message delivered>>> Receiver
Sender !!!! <<<Receipt lost<<< Receiver

Effectively, the receiver sees the message but the sender sees it as undelivered.
