I’m using Openfire 3.8.1 , my server : Centos 6.4 x86_64 . I want my users can chat video/audio with Spark , I did the searching and found many topic in http://community.igniterealtime.org/blogs/tags/webrtc , but I still not sure how to implement it .
What plugins should I install : webrtc-plugin.jar + jappix.war , VideoBridge + Jitsi , redfire , Jingle ?
And how to configure it ?
I installed jappix.war and webrtc-plugin.jar , but I don’t know how to use them .
To be honest with you the video conferencing in spark and openfire is absalutly awful and has never been implemented properly. I got it working once a couple of years ago, but the whole interface looks unproffesional and was extremely fiddly to set up, our end users also found it difficult to use, and even then it was only able to do one to one chats. I also ended up having to rebuild the server multiple times due to plug in’s being incompatible with each other as well.
It’s a shame really, because this is a feature I could see spark getting a foot hold in with it’s competition. There isnt a single free video conferencing solution with the flexabilty of openfire on the market, and trust me I have been looking for years.
I really hope something gets implemented sooner rather than later regarding this, a solution thats easy to set up as well without having to mess about with multiple plug in’s. I know it’s easier said than done but people have been crying out for this feature for years.
I cant agree with SpaM more. there is a huge need for video confrencing in spark and openfire. from what I have found jitsi have spun off their framework, could this and video bridge forme a full confrancing solution?
