How to tell if server is communicating w/ active directory?

I am running v 2.2.2

I tried turning debugging on in the configuration file, but all that debug.log ever says is that it is loading the admin console. Is this correct? Shouldn’'t it say something about loading in ldap or trying to contact the ldap server? In fact, none of the logs even say a thing about contacting my active directory server. ldap is bundled in with 2.2.2 by default, right? I dont have to download anything extra to get this to work?

I have my ldap up and running and it’'s authenticating properly, but I never get any communication verfication in the debug logs about AD LDAP auth. It just works.
