I would like some help please about DNS

Hi there, i would like some help and to ask a question. i want to install Openfire so i can make my own xmpp server.But could i use my home hubs DNS ip or not? so i could make a I.E JabberQlite.co.uk ? instead of going to no-ip.com or dns.org. If you want Info about my Hub,its the new BT Home hub 3 . i am running windows Xp service pack 3 .

please help me

i have made that server that i gave a I.E for. but how do i add dns records . bits running but i cannot connect to it live only localhost. if i am doing something wrong.please explain?
