Initial install error

I’m trying to setup the server on a new domain and keep having errors adding the administrator. I’m thinking it is due to a connection issue to the AD.

Here are my settings

Server Type: Active Directory

Host: DC01.sm.com

Port: 389

Base DN: CU=smusers;dc=sm,dc=com

Administrator DN: cn=administrator,cu=users;dc=sm,dc=com

Password:

Default values for User Mapping and Group Mapping

The admin account is in the default users account in AD. All users are in subdirectories of the OU smusers. I get the the add administrator section. I get “No username was provided or the specified useranem was not found.”, but I’m using the default administrator account in the AD. Also there is a ton of errors on the openfire window which I list below.

Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Its because your administrator account isn’t in the base dn

also, The admin account isn’t really an admin account. it’s just used for reading ldap. So a regular domain user account will work. You should not be using a domain admin account!

try

base dn: dc=sm,dc=com

Administrator DN: user@dm.com

Then use you search filters to filter out users and groups.
