Issues with slashes in Active Directory names?

Part of our account naming scheme here is that we use a “/” in the name field for certain users… ie., “Last, First (text/FOO)”. As it turns out, none of the users with the slash show up when doing a search and they cannot log in. All users without the slash can log in and do appear in search results.

Is there a known issue here? I know that the slash is often used for escaping special characters so I’m wondering if it’s causing a problem.

Is anyone out there willing to test by updating an AD account to include “/FOO” in their name/dn/etc field? I’m not an AD/LDAP person so I don’t know which is the important field… our “/FOO” shows up in name, displayName, distinguishedName, cn, and dn.
