java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded?

Help, my Wildfire service is down! I’'m getting an error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded. I can not longer acces the admin portal? What is this and How do I fix this?

Hi,

a restart will usually fix OOM errors. You may want to increase the java heap size, it’'s the Xmx value which you may set in the start script or .vmoptions file.

Hi,

using Java 1.5 may help, it seems that you hit a Java bug: SUN-6485694.

How do I install 1.5 Java SE? with Wildfire?

You can download it here:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

Sun contains instructions on how to install it along with the download.

Also, what is your -Xmx value? Assuming you’'re not hitting the bug that it2000 references, setting this will solve your problem.

okay go to new forum: '‘Wildfire 3.2.2 with JAVA VM 1.6.0 out of memory again! ‘’ to continue this resolve. I’'m closing this one.

Hi,

I have the same problem with last nightly build of openfire and java 1.6.0_01. I described it in http://www.igniterealtime.org/community/thread/28675?tstart=0

Did you solve your problem?

Thx,
