I want to have the most secure/private chatroom possible using openfire and i am curious what is the best way to do it? From the admin site I can make a room that is invisible and member only with admin/owner invite possible. Non-members can try to join but does get shotdown with “not member” or the “password incorrect” error which is fine. Is this the most secure way to make a room?
Well, i wouldn’t call it a secure, rather restricted access room. Members-only or password protected room are the only way to restrict access to a room. You can also create another group chat service, other than default, so most users won’t even know about it, but this is the same as to make room invisible.
