Having issues with setting up Administrator Account after a new install?
After you install openfire click “skip this step” (screenshot below). Then go here: Re: Resetting admin passwords and copy the code block from .@Guus der Kinderen about 3/4 down the page. Shut down openfire. Paste the code over \Openfire\conf\openfire.xml and edit the part that says insert name here. Restart openfire and you should be good.
Answered my own question.
I found this after installing 4_0_1 thinking there was a bug. I mistakenly thought my email address as entered above would be my administrator username along with the password I entered on the above screenshot. Found that the user is admin and not the email, it was written clearly in the instructions but I’ve seen many installs that set the administrator user in that manner I assumed OpenFire was doing the same. All I had to do was slow down and read the print.
