There is nothing about OSX here: Openfire: Installation Guide Is it supported?
I´m guessing it is a Java issue.
I tried OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.9, 10.10 with Java 6, 7 & 8 and none of this combinations work.
It would be interesting under which requirements the Mac version was tested.
Maybe a 64bit Version can fix the Problems in OSX.
