Openfire 3.6.4 Administration console login failure

I just finished installing Openfire 3.6.4 The last step in the setup is entering a “valid email address” and password for the administrator account. After completing setup the next step is to login to the administration console but it won’t take the login info that I have just finished giving it. Several times now I have deleted the setup node from the xml file and rerun setup but no matter what I set up as administrator credentials the console login won’t accept them.

I got this from a related discussion and it worked for me:

I couldn’t connect to admin console with login “admin”.

I had to edit openfire.xml and add manually


admin

Then I had been able to log in admin console as admin.

Hi Daniel,

it seems that you did miss the announcement. 3.6.4 has a bug and needs to be restarted after setup before one can login. So it’s more likely that your restart did solve this problem.
