Openfire failing to install

Hello All,

I have installed Openfire 3.6.4 on CentOS5 and am ecountering the following issue.

The installation process went smoothly and Openfire works great if I run it through sh ./opt/openfire/bin/openfire.sh.

But once I run the server as a deamon (/etc/init.d/openfire start) it wants to reinstall. I attempted the reinstall ( btw this is the install at http://127.0.0.1:9090 ) and finished succesfully, when I attempt to access the administration I am brought to the installation again…

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

as which user did you start it form command line? Openfire may run as “daemon” when started with the /etc/rc.d/init.d/ script and find it difficult to write log files or conf/openfire.xml when these files were created by root.

“chown” may help.

All files have correct ownership

mmm… not sure what the issue here was but reattempted same this morning and everything works fine.
