Openfire port sender?

I know that in S2S connection the port where an Openfire server “listen” other Openfire server is 5269.

But, what is the port sender of Openfire?

I have a server on pc1 10.11.9.1 that speak with other server on pc2 10.11.7.1;

I see with ethereal that if I send a message from pc1 to pc2 I have this:

source destination info

10.11.9.1 10.11.7.1 57913 > 5269

10.11.7.1 10.11.9.1 5269 > 57913

I see with ethereal that if I send a message from pc2 to pc1 I have this:

source destination info

10.11.7.1 10.11.9.1 42710 > 5269

10.11.9.1 10.11.7.1 5269 > 42710

So, I ask:

  1. is port sender of server random?

  2. if yes, can I set it static?
