Does Jive Messenger support PAM authentication?

No, Jive Messenger does not support PAM authentication currently. It looks like this wouldn’‘t be a very hard customization, but SASL is our next priority for authentication integration. PAM support would be great for a lot of deployments though. We’'d be happy to work with anyone interested in working on this feature.

To follow-up a bit more, it looks like a nice library to use would be JPam: http://jpam.sourceforge.net/

Integration would mean writing a custom AuthFactory.
