The Ignite Realtime community is happy to announce the release of version 1.0.0 of the PionTurn plugin.
This plugin uses the Pion Turn Project (GitHub - pion/turn: Pion TURN, an API for building TURN clients and servers) to create a TURN/STUN server for Openfire. A TURN/STUN server is used to help users who are on uncooperative networks connect their calls or video calls.
This version brings in the new long-term authentication compatible with the TURN REST format, bringing security to the latest standard.
And it also comes with a new mechanism for resolving domain names, making it possible to run the Pionturn plugin in a dynamic IP environment without having to worry about updating the IP.
Last but not least are improvements in the UI, which will now grab most of the necessary parameters from the External Service Discovery with just a couple of clicks.
The updated plugin should become available for download in your Openfire admin console in the course of the next few hours. Alternatively, you can download the plugin directly, from the plugin’s archive page.
