Possible Java issue?

Background:

  • Server running XP SP3 with Openfilre 3.5.2

  • Client running XP SP3 with Java Version 6 update 6, trying to install Spark 2.5.8

  • We have Spark running on other machines running XP and Vista with no issues.

Description:

  • Client starts Spark, it logs on, after a couple seconds it logs him off. Spark anounces him as logged on then as logged off on other client computers.

  • We tried uninstalling Spark and Java, we deleted the Spark directories out of Program Files and Local Settings.

  • I can log on as him on my machine with no issues.

  • User is a domain admin, as am I.

  • We disabled Symantec on his machine.

  • Logs show following error -

java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

Exception on commit = java.io.IOException: Can’t find registry file

Exception on commit = java.io.IOException: Can’t find registry file

Exception on commit = java.io.IOException: Can’t find registry file

Any suggestions?

You said you already have java installed on that pc. What package are you using to install Spark? Offline with java included? You can try deleting jre folder in Spark program files, so it will use external java. Doubt this will help, just a thought.

I’ve tried both online and offline Spark_2_5_8.exe. I’ve tried the current Java version 6 update 6 and rolled back to version 6 update 5. No go on deleting the jre folder as well.

Found out that it was related to his biometric scanner. Not sure what the issue was, but we had him log on using his credentials and it stayed open. Thanks for the suggestions.
