Can someone please tell me how I can recieve someone’'s presence. I have used a code to get my roster and any initial presence on a user but when I change the presence on another client it does not change on my client.

You must be subscribed to another user’‘s presence in order to get presence updates about them. Typically this is done by having the user on your roster, although that’'s not actually required.
