I have stumbled across openfire for an XMPP server. I am able to set it up and get it configured in 3 minutes on my redhat development server by downloading the rpm and doing a local install. It’s beautiful and would love to use this, however, the system administrators require that all software must be installed through a repo for security updates on the production redhat servers. I have searched, but cannot find a repo that contains openfire. Is there one? If not, WHY NOT?! This server blows away all the others I have evaluated.
We’re all volunteers here, so the reason something hasn’t been done is because somebody from the community has not stepped up to do it.
