I am new to openfire and spark but I would like to start a web based messenger. Before I found openfire I intended to use ejabbered. I read there that it´s possible to use a server cluster if to many users use the service.
What is with openfire? How stable is the system with many users?

Openfire doesn’'t support clustering yet, but there are connection managers which can help with certain problems, and you can always use multiple servers connected via s2s.
