Sending text messages to phones

Hi:

I’‘m new to IM in general. Can I use Wildfire to send a text message to a cell phone or a group of cell phones? In fact, let’'s go one step further. Can I send a video text message to a cell phone or group of cel phones using Wildfire?

If the phone implemented the XMPP (Jabber) protocol than you’‘d definitely be able to send messages to it using Wildfire. If the phone doesn’‘t support XMPP (most don’‘t) then you’'d need a bridge between XMPP and SMS. You may have some look doing searches for Jabber SMS bridges.
