Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to install ( if possible ) on a shared linux box running Cpanel? I want to test the software before I decide to setup a dedicated server.
Any adivce/suggestions would be appreciated.

I did never hear of CPanel support. Where’'s the problem to create a non-root user and use it to install Java and Openfire and to start Openfire using this user? Openfire tries to open a lot of ports, this could be a problem and create some excpetions.
