The ‘two questionmarks’ issue was what was fixed with OF-2814. That fix was applied in Openfire 4.8.2.
yes, in Openfire 4.8.2 and 4.8.3 users losing connections
This is most likely unrelated.
No clue what is the reason of that one,but that’s OKI I have just these mess in logs many times but seems to work correctly.
Our problem is still relevant, outages occur every minute

I confirm the issue, clients are reconnecting, but there is also memory overflow. Here is the error:
ERROR [socket_c2s-thread-5]: org.jivesoftware.openfire.nio.NettyConnection - Problem during connection close or cleanup
java.io.IOException: Broken pipe.
Also there were errors about buffer overflow
I downgraded from version 4.8.3 to 4.7.5. There are no reconnections and the memory does not overflow.
I have raised this ticket for the problem described here: [OF-2872] - Ignite Realtime Jira
I suspect that this problem has now been fixed. Could someone try the nightly build of Openfire from or after September 13, 2024 to see if the problem is indeed gone?
None whatsoever. Other issues yes but disconnects no.
Well, updated to dailybuilds/openfire_2024-09-17.deb, and the problem with disconnects and visually seems to have been fixed. Not sure about the indeed, but at least it got a lot better. One full working day with no complaints. However, there are still errors in the server logs regarding stanzas. And something else with incomprehensible codepage. I cleaned up the log from the notification about Using unencrypted connection to LDAP service!

Thanks for testing this. We’re including this fix in release 4.9.0 of Openfire.
