Hi Matt,
RosterEntry.setName() blows off with an NPE if the current name of the contact is null.
I looked briefly but can’'t tell if the “name” element for a roster entry is actually required…I just happened to have an entry with a null name (set up from some other client) that I was trying to change the name via Smack.
