I messed with the Jabber notification code in SnipSnap a while back, just enough to get it to notify me instead of Leo and Funzel
Maybe if you change the existing Jabberbot notification code to use Smack as well, and submit a patch, they will drop the Echomine Muse API that currently comes with SnipSnap (350k).
Funzel wrote a long time ago that they wanted to move to another smaller sized jabber library, so when I found the Smack Library (I like it, keep up the good work:)) I decided to write something myself since it looked like it haven’'t been done so much work on jabber support in SnipSnap for a while.
Hopefully my jabber bot for SnipSnap would be included in the 1.0 release of SnipSnap (Funzel said that he should look at it when he had time). Thats my plan, I’'m not just writing this bot and the code using it because I need it on my own sites, but also want others to use it as well, making suggestions to improvements etc. etc. So feel free to make comments about my code, suggestions or ideas on my pages at snipsnap.org
Insurgent: I have today also added the notification code to my bot.
Sounds like a cool project. Also, not to be pedantic, but the more proper term is XMPP since that’'s the name of the open protocol and Jabber is a commercial term from a single company.
Funzel and the other developers of SnipSnap have now
decided to go for the Smack Library instead of the
Muse Library after version 1.0
Cool, that’‘s good to hear! We’'ll have to make a list of projects using Smack very soon…
Matt: I have forgotten to thank you for your very
quick response implementing my feature request.
Thanks!
No problem. BTW, we created some code that will automatically try to re-connect to a server on a degrading interval (I know you expressed interest in this earlier for your bot). We’'ll try to get that posted to the forum fairly soon.

But until you have made this we can use:

Great, I haven’'t done this coding myself because of lack of spare time lately.
