In Spark, when a new message arrives, it appears at the top of the conversation view rather than being appended to the bottom like a normal chat client. As a result, when the Spark window flashes to notify me of a new message, the message isn’t visible in the default (bottom) view — I have to manually scroll up to the top of the conversation to actually read it. I think its been happening since the first 3.1.0 versions. JRE Version: 25.0.1 amd64 Openfire version : Openfire 5.0.4, build ef7aa07 , 32bit

If you can, please upgrade the Openfire to 5.1.1 and use 64-bit version (x64/amd64). Here is a direct link for Windows installer

Also you may install the OF on a server with Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, RedHat, etc).
While the Spark may be broken you can use in parallel other XMPP clients XMPP Software | XMPP - The universal messaging standard
Check the Gajim (most advanced), Psi (little bit outdated) and the new Fluux which looks great but is in early beta.
The new version of Spark now has a better better compatibility with other XMPP servers like EJabberd, Prosody, Tigase, so if you potentially may change a server too if needed. For example the ejabberd has a better performance and the Prosody has many plugins. It still recommended to use the Spark with OF because it’s better tested and supports specific features like Client Control where you can configure Spark features and settings.
See, with the XMPP you have a choice and you can contribute and adapt for your needs.
We have delayed moving to 64bit because of OF migration issues. We will have to give it a go again sooner or later, or setup OF from start. We could go Linux but trying to save on VM resources. Ive been looking for different clients, I will check Gajim for sure. Regular updates are very important as you can imagine, nowadays. Yes I can help with Greek translation.

By the way, I tried Gajim, all my contacts did not appear, got removed from Spark too! Tried several things and the only thing that worked after all is creating a new user… I’ll pospone Gajim for a while 
That’s definitely mustn’t happen. Maybe if you update the OpenFire to latest version this won’t happen.

Hi, we’ve installed the nightly build from 2026-07-26 today and the ordering problem is solved (latest messages appear at the bottom of the conversation). We will get back to you by the end of the week about the credential loss

I added the Greek translation. I just used a Google Translate but even a bad translation is better than nothing. If you’ll find any problem please go to the Weblate, register and change the string Spark/core — Greek @ Toolate
Without a registration you can add a suggestion and eventually someone who is registered will apply it. But this may not happen so please register and change it.
Or you can collect a list of corrections and post them here or on the Google Docs.
Done about 1/4. How do you want the translation? Modern and keeping some words in English because Greeks use both the English and the Greek word or more conservative, like sometime using words nobody really uses, but have been used in similar translations?

Generally translators should use a puristic approach and avoid the English as much as possible even if this become goofy. There are few reasons:
1 . Kids or elderly people who are usually don’t know even basic English. Not everyone are programmers.
2 . The English spelled badly phonetically because of reduction. For example “a” may sound:

| /ɛ/ (rare) | short “e” | any, many |
And in addition it’s a lot of inconsistent writing. So often same English word may be written in different forms.
Usage reason: by using words and idioms from your language you make it easier to construct new words or reuse existing. When borrowing words you usually stick them to specific context and now you have two words: native and the borrowed. But most of time you may use the same words and anyway you’ll get what exactly it means from a context.
For example the “Chat” in your native language was borrowed as “online group conversation”. But it the English it may mean just a “conversation”, that’s why you may see terms like “chat room”, “group chat”, “conference”, “MUC”. But most of time it doesn’t really matter if you have a group or private conversation, and it’s also not so important if it was online or not. So you can just use a general term “conversation”, “discussion”, “talk” etc.
That’s why it’s recommended by the Terminology - Modern XMPP to use a “group chat”.
Last reason: words in English may change too and now you’ll have a borrowed old word. For example:
“cell phone” → “mobile phone” → “palm phone” → “smartphone”
“notebook” → “laptop”
If your users works with a program on day to day basics then once they learned where the button they don’t really care about what is written there. So you can call a chat “sepulka” and no one will complain except of the first users who will be confused. So feel free to take a creativity and you may even made up words.
I believe Im done, I left the last ~100 settings as is because it wont help admins looking at these in Greek, on the contrary.
