Unexpected Error Java Virtual Machine

I’ve been running Spark 2.5.8 on Windows 2003 SP2 Citrix XenApp 4.5 FP1 Platinnum Edition for months as a published application.

It has worked fine without an issue until I recently deployed the Citrix EdgeSight 5.x Agent.

I can get Spark to work again, only when I stop the Citrix Systems Monitoring service (“C:\Program Files\Citrix\System Monitoring\Agent\Core\rscorsvc.exe”).

This is consistant accross all nine Citrix Terminal Servers in the farm.

I’ve attempted a few things…

Uninstalling Spark 2.5.8 with embedded JRE, and reinstall Spark 2.58 online version without JRE

Updating to JRE 6 update 11

Installing MSI and EXE of Spark 2.6 beta 2

None have worked… oh yes, I also tried

Enabling Java Console | Debugging – tracing and logging, but they don’t over any good info.

Below is the latest copy of c:\program files\sparek\hs_err_pid####.log

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Troy,

Java crashes are usually due to problems in the JVM and not related to application problems. However, it is still possible that the application when using native libraries could in some way cause a crash. Having said that, the recommendation is always to update to latest OS patches, Java release and in this case also disable all Spark plugins. To figure out if a plugin was causing this then try adding them back one by one until you figure out what was causing these crashes.

Here’s the latest…

.I uninstalled Spark 2.6 beta

.I uninstalled Citrix EdgeSight 5.0 SP1

.Removed Java 5 and Java 6 in Add/Remove Programs

.Rebooted…

.Installed Citrix EdgeSight 5.0 SP1

.Installed Spark 2.5.8 online (w/out JRE)

.It could not find Java, so Installed jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe

.Tried Spark… same problem…

.stopped Citrix Systems Monitoring service

.logged into spark

.I removed all plugins one at a time, and tried…

The plugins (Fastpath, Jingle, JINIwrapper, Spellcheck) keep popping back in.

.I also hard coded the server and port, and started in debug mode.

.started Citrix Systems Monitoring servcie

.It actually took a bit longer, but then failed again.

.I’m waiting for Citrix or Sun to call me as well.

.My guess is EdgeSight installs some JRE voodoo that poopoos on other JRE apps (server LDAP authentication call).

different Logs now with error:

Note: with Spark debugger set, and hard coding the host and port, I can actually login and see my test user online and groups, and then it just shuts down.

I have similiar problem in one workstation… no Citrix stuff in use. I checked Java version and it is latest… meaning version 6 update 11 at the moment. I’m going to reinstall Java and Spark and try after that.** **

Hi,

I wonder if it helps to unset the PATH variable and then start Spark, for example in a “cmd”.

Or try to block access to rsintcor.dll with Windows permissions for the user which starts Spark, this could help.

I gave it a try… here are the results!

I followed the path suggestion below(correct?) … no workie…

C:\Program Files\Spark>path

Path=C:\oracle\ora81\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin;C:\WINDOWS\system

32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\oma\bin;C:\P

rogram Files\Citrix\System32\Citrix\IMA;C:\Program Files\Citrix\System32\Citrix\

IMA\Subsystems;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Citrix\IMA;C:\Program Files\Citrix\system32;C

:\Program Files\Common Files\Citrix\System32;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Citr

ix\System32

PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH

C:\Program Files\Spark>set path=

C:\Program Files\Spark>path

PATH=(null)

C:\Program Files\Spark>Spark.exe

I followed the rename rsintcor.dll suggestion IT WORKED!

Stopped Citrix Monitoring Service

Renamed C:\Program Files\Citrix\System Monitoring\Agent\Core\rsintcor.dll.test

Started Citrix Monitoring Service

Started Spark

chatted away!

Now… how do we know (I’m sure it is) if Citrix EdgeSight Agent is NOT broken…hmmm…

I also tried sysinternals(MS) process monitor and explorer…

great tools and lot’s of info.
