Using Email Address as Username

I have searched the board for this topic and found a few answers, but not that i could really understand.

  1. I need to use an email address as the username.

  2. I don’'t think i can rewrite server and client to escape @ to ascii code.

  3. Is there a plugin to do this.

  4. If not will someone build it.

do you really need to used JIDs like "user@domain.com@xmpp.domain.com" ?

Where is your current userbase stored if I may ask?

Do you use LDAP or an external database for authentication?

@2: Wildfire and Spark support this, so you may want to use both

@3: None I’'m aware of.

@4: Maybe, especially if someone is willing to pay a million for such a plugin.
