Using Groups

Hello all,

New to OpenFire. Working great so far.

My question is this: in the admin interface, I’ve created a number of user groups and populated them with users. How do IM clients utilize these groups, once created?

The Spark client permits me to create a group, but it’s a local group, and has no knowledge of the system-created groups.

If there’s documentation floating around somewhere that answers my question, please point me to it.

Hi,

the client should handle the groups like rosters. Anyhow they are read-only and managed by the server admin.

As soon as you are in a server-side group and sharing is enabled you should see this group within Spark.

Right on.

I had failed to enable the group in the admin console (the wording threw me off).
