Further to our post regarding user authentication ( Openfire 4.9.2 -> 5.01 unable to register clients ) which has not been answered, could anyone confirm that the latest version (i.e. 5.0.2) has been tested in production as a clustered solution with hybrid auth?
We did try 5.0.1 and as discussed we could not authenticate any client.
Thanks for the follow-up. This is the first time you’ve mentioned hybrid authentication, and your questions remain very generic and low on details. Without concrete information about your environment, configuration, and the exact errors you see, it is not possible to confirm whether 5.0.2 (or any version) will work in your clustered setup.
Openfire releases are tested to a certain extent by the community, but there isn’t an official guarantee for every combination of clustering and authentication methods. The best way to get useful guidance is to provide detailed logs from a failed login attempt, the client setup, cluster state, and how hybrid authentication is configured. Only with that information can anyone offer meaningful advice or confirm whether a particular version is likely to work.
Thank you for the response. We have a setup where we are authenticating against an Active Directory and also locally on the server. With 5.0.1 none of the users could authenticate. Our client is spark. I don’t think there is much about the cluster that i can share besides that there are just two members.
To provide any other logs we would need to take the environment down and this will require a lot of time and effort. Has anyone succeeded to make this version work with hybrid authentication like the one mentioned?
