I have a user who keeps reconnecting to the server repeatedly and does not stop. I tried deleting and recreating the user, but the issue still persists. I tested with other users and they work fine, but with this specific user I am unable to connect properly. After some time, the user does connect, but not all people load — for example, there are 42 users and only 8 are loaded, and this number varies.
Please provide more details: OS, Spark version, XMPP Server version.
If you can show logs if there is anything related.
In general:
Try to upgrade the Spark if it’s very old. You may even try a nightly build Ignite Realtime: Spark Nightly Builds but it’s now very unstable (broken message history) and you’ll need to upgrade it again in a week or two.
Upgrade the XMPP server (Openfire) if needed.
Generally, if you can, you better to try more advanced XMPP clients like Gajim or the new and highly unstable but promising Fluux. The Spark was in maintenance mode for a long period. I’m now trying to prepare a new beta release but it will take a long time to make a new stable release and fix all the bugs. And still it won’t have many of the new features that other clients have (calls, OMEMO encryption).
