What recommended hardware for 5k concurrent users?

I made tests and reached more than 10K users with a Xeon bi processor and 4Gb of RAM.
I think a Xeon with a single processor and 2Gb should be enough for 5000 users but if you can afford larger like the bi-pro and 4Gb RAM, it could probably be safer.
Concerning throughput, it highly depends on the nature of the traffic. Will people talk frequently, connect/disconnect regularly or not.
I made tests with CMs and trying to simulate a medium traffic, my test client estimated traffic around 400Mbit at peak for 10K users. I would say that a 100Mbit/s output will probably quick become a bottleneck in my opinion.
