Wildfire 3.0.1! Updating?

Hi there,

I’'m excited about the new release; maybe it could be announced somewhere? On the announcements forum, for example.

One question: will I be able to upgrade from inside the admin console? Is there an upgrading guide or something? Previously, I just untarred the new version to /opt, then copied my conf/wildfire.xml and restarted from there, but I lost any installed plugins in the process.

Also, what is the default update frequency for the check? Should it be documented somewhere (on the “manage updates” page)? Is it possible to set it to a lower value using the properties thingie?

Thanks!

An upgrade guide would rock. I’‘m still running 2.6.2, and don’‘t really have any reason to switch, but would simply like to upgrade. I’‘m sort of reluctant without any sort of guide. I guess I’'ll just have to compare the new config file closely with my old one.

Hey Manuzhai,

Done. The announcement is now in this forum and also in the news forum.

Plugins updates can be installed with just one click from the admin console. However, server updates are not there yet. Admins will see in the main page of the admin console an alert window indicating that there is a new Wildfire release available. Admins may also get notifications of server or plugins updates by IM.

Also, what is the default update frequency for the check? Should it be documented somewhere (on the “manage updates” page)? Is it possible to set it to a lower value using the properties thingie?

By default, Wildfire checkes every 48 hours for new updates. You can set the update.frequency system property to change the default value (in hours). Note that the update process will sleep until the next check must be performed so after you modified the system property you may need to restart the server.

Maybe. This question is very common here. So search for an “upgrade” in forums will give a bunch of threads with instructions.
