Will RPM install process daemon?

Will the RPM install a process daemon in *NIX machines?

Will we able to easily upgrade the messenger version with each release via rpm? Including the database?

Carlos,

Will the RPM install a process daemon in *NIX

machines?

It doesn’'t automatically install the process daemon, but you can easily make an entry in init.d using the included scripts.

Will we able to easily upgrade the messenger version

with each release via rpm? Including the database?

We haven’‘t tested that yet, but that’'s certainly the plan. Upgrading the database will definitely not be a problem.

If you have any feedback about the RPM, please let us know!

Regards,

Matt

Ok I will install it tonight. Where does RPM install the packages in by default?

It will be installed to /opt/jive_messenger.

Installed the RPM just fine. I notice the size of the RPM is 3 times bigger than the actual tarred binary? I saw the directory JRE under messenger too.

I used webmin to set an entry on the boot up process. I tested it and works fine.

Yep, it includes a Java 1.5 JRE so that there are no dependencies on having Java already running on your system.

Great, glad you got it working.

Thanks,
