XIFF 3.0.0 Official Release is Coming

Well its only been 2 years and some-odd months coming, but looks like XIFF 3.0.0 will finally be coming out of beta.

As we all know, the current version on the homepage is very old, which is unfortunate for new users to XIFF.

They of course grab that version instead of the trunk and get stuck with very old issues.

Hopefully, this updated release will encourage the growth of XIFF.

For the past few days, I’ve been working with the Ignite team to get this moving forward.

The 3.0.0 Road Map on JIRA is now free and clear of issues. A few of the remaining holdouts have been moved into the 3.0.1 Road Map.

XIFF is also now included in Bamboo: http://bamboo.igniterealtime.org/browse/XIFF

Bamboo is a continuous integration system that auto-builds the project nightly.

From this build, you will be able to grab the latest distributable (zip of the project), component (SWC), and documentation from the trunk.

As soon as I get the word that 3.0.0 has gone live, I’ll update everyone.

But until then, if there’s anything that you think is a show-stopper for this release or you want incorporated, let me know and perhaps we can get it thrown in. Otherwise, 3.0.1 will have to do!

Really good to see this is actually happening.

This should make the library more usable for many users, who might be scared away with the requirement to use “trunk”.

Congratulations Mark!

And its been released!
