If I amend my registry key for xmpp in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\xmpp to point to my spark to start via java webstart on my http server will this work?
I want to start chats and invitations to groups chats using the xmpp hyperlink

This would not work due to the single instance of the product running in order to retrieve the parameters. In your case, the best that could happen is that it would start up Spark the first time and open a room. However, on each inital click of a link, it would cause a new instance to be started. Instead of webstart, why not go the executable route along with Spark Manager?
